Misleading ballot language makes it sound like this referendum would bring Allentown residents a tax cut, but the reality is just the opposite: the referendum would remove the Deed Transfer tax rate from the list of tax rates the City Council is prohibited from raising, paving the way for a publically sought-after tax increase – and raising the cost of every home purchased, sold, and rented in Allentown.
In a time where the cost of living is skyrocketing, we can't afford to let housing get more expensive!
